Cycle Lab Bike Skills25 March 2019
Cycle Lab Bike Skills is a professional skills improvement programme run by internationally accredited mountain bike skills coaches. The programme is progressional to allow ‘pupils’ of all ages and varying levels of competence to make incremental improvements at their own pace.
Cycle Lab Bike Skills includes a points-allocation system to allow mountain bikers to be graded according to their ability on each obstacle or action. This measurement system allows pupils to track their improvement and add further obstacle-specific sessions to strengthen any weaknesses. The programme is also tiered to ensure pupils are able to move up the grading if they feel the need to.
MTB CONFIDENCE SPEED SESSIONS
Confidence is the primary focus of our Confidence Sessions because a confident mountain biker is a relaxed mountain biker. Confidence Sessions cover all the most common mountain bike actions and obstacles and are ideal for males and females aged 15 and over.
MTB Confidence 1
This level covers braking control, terrain awareness, low-speed stability, position and balance, basic descents, basic climbs, flat corners right, flat corners left, basic bridges and Green Singletrack.
MTB Confidence 2
This level covers braking control, terrain awareness, low-speed stability, position and balance, intermediate descents, intermediate climbs, bermed corners right, bermed corners left, intermediate bridges and Blue Singletrack.
MTB SPEED SESSIONS
Once confident, mountain bikers are able to build speed. Speed in mountain biking usually comes from riding more smoothly and carrying speed through turns, over obstacles and through dips, sand or mud. Speed Sessions focus on showing confident mountain bikers where they can carry speed and increase agility.
